Good Samaritan, Coast Guard recover 1 near Beach Haven, N.J.

BEACH HAVEN, N.J. – The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan recovered a 55 year-old-man after his 18-foot boat sank near Beach Haven Friday.

The Coast Guard received a call at 11:40 a.m. from a member of the Beach Haven Police Department reporting the man was in the vicinity of Beach Haven taking on water aboard his boat.

A good Samaritan arrived on scene and recovered the man, who was unresponsive, from the water. The good Samaritan transferred the man to a rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light, N.J., who conducted Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation on the man and transported him to awaiting emergency medical personnel at Beach Haven Yacht Club.

Emergency medical personnel continued CPR.
