Four People Rescued From Boat Near San Leandro

San Francisco – A Coast Guard crew from Air Station San Francisco rescued four people from a boat north of Bay Farm Island, near San Leandro, around 6:00 p.m. this evening.

The persons onboard called the Coast Guard after their boat became dead in the water, and Station San Francisco launched a response boat to the scene. Once it was determined that the water was too shallow for the Coast Guard vessel to safely reach the boaters, the decision was made to launch an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from the air station.

All four people were safely hoisted aboard the helicopter and dropped off at the Oakland Airport at approximately 6:15 p.m.
