Former Coast Guard Cutter Legare CO takes helm of Patrol Forces Southwest Asia

MANAMA, BAHRAIN – A change of command ceremony on June 20, 2010 at Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain marked the relinquishment of command from Capt. Duke Walker to Capt. Scott Bauby as Commodore, U.S. Coast Guard Patrol Forces Southwest Asia (PATFORSWA).

A change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition that signifies the total transfer of responsibility, authority and accountability of command from one leader to another.

Bauby joins PATFORSWA from his previous assignment as commanding officer of Coast Guard Cutter Legare homeported in Portsmouth, Va. After commanding PATFORSWA for the past year, Walker will report to the Eighth Coast Guard District in New Orleans, La., to serve as chief of resources.

PATFORSWA trains, equips, deploys and sustains maritime forces conducting operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operations Enduring Freedom in the Naval Forces Central Command’s area of responsibility. These forces include six 110-foot Coast Guard patrol boats, five 179-foot Navy patrol craft, Coast Guard law enforcement detachments, and Coast Guard maritime safety and security teams.
