Fifth District Welcomes New Reserve Command Master Chief

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Master Chief Petty Officer George M. Williamson relieved Master Chief Petty Officer Bonnie Bernard as the Fifth District Reserve Command Master Chief at a change of watch ceremony here today.

Bernard had been the Fifth District Reserve Command Master Chief since July 8, 2002. She will retire from the Coast Guard in November after 33 years of active and reserve duty.

Williamson, a native of Norristown, Pa., entered the Coast Guard on active duty in 1983 and became a member of the reserves in January of 1988. In civilian life, Williamson is a patrol sergeant for the West Norriton Township Police Department in Montgomery County, Pa.
