Eugene Island Pipeline oilspill clean up complete

NEW ORLEANS — The Unified Command for the Eugene Island Pipeline spill announced that clean-up operations were completed.

Recovery operations have been successfully completed and the pipeline repair operations will continue to be monitored by all parties. The Unified Command would like to thank the organizations and people involved in the response and recovery, including representatives from Shell Pipeline Company, LP, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Minerals Management Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, as well as the private companies who participated in the effort.

Permanent repairs to the Eugene Island Pipeline will be made by Shell Pipeline Company LP. The pipeline will be restarted following the completion of repairs and a thorough inspection.
