Diver hoisted by Coast Guard near Tarpon Springs, Fla.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 54-year-old man was medically evacuated by the Coast Guard 15 miles northwest of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Wednesday.

At approximately 10:22 a.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg command center received notification from a crew member aboard the charter dive vessel Narcosis, reporting a diver aboard the vessel was suffering from injuries sustained while diving and was unresponsive.

Watchstanders diverted a Coast Guard aircrew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater while a crewmember aboard the dive boat CPR.

The aircrew arrived on scene at 10:25 a.m., hoisted both the diver and the crewmember conducting CPR and transported them to Tampa General Hospital.
