Diver found during search off Santa Monica Pier

SAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Coast Guard and Baywatch Redondo crews have halted their search for a missing diver in the vicinity of the Santa Monica, Calif., pier around 5:10 p.m., Tuesday.

A boat crew from Baywatch Redondo located the man about 200 yards from the pier as he was attempting to swim to shore. An emergency medical technician onboard the Baywatch boat is currently evaluating the man, though he is conscious.

A 45-foot Response Boat from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles-Long Beach and a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles were launched to assist in the search.

The search for the man began around 4:22 p.m., after Baywatch Redondo received the report.
