Deputy Injured While Searching for Missing Man

North Bend, OR – The Coast Guard air-lifted an injured 38-year-old man from a ravine 30-miles east from North Bend, Ore. today.

Josephine County Sheriff’s Department contacted Coast Guard Air Station North Bend at 2:20 p.m. requesting assistance for an injured man who fell into a ravine. The man is a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s department. The deputy was taking part in the search for the missing father in Oregon.

The husband, his wife and two children had been missing for more than a week. The husband left Saturday morning to get help for the stranded family who were caught in the snow. His wife and two children were found in good condition Monday.

An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station North Bend was launched to aid the victim.

The man was hoisted to the helicopter and taken to Air Station North Bend where he was transferred to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, Ore.

The Coast Guard has been a part of search efforts for the missing husband since Monday.
