PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. – The Coast Guard Cutter Confidence returned home to Port Canaveral Sunday from a 53-day patrol in the Windward Pass.
The Confidence crew departed homeport for its law enforcement patrol March 4, and concentrated on counter-drug and alien migrant interdiction operations. Confidence crewmembers were also essential in a multinational search and rescue case and provided assistance to a stranded Haitian fishing vessel with help from two United Nations patrol boats.
While underway, Confidence conducted operations with helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City, Mich., Air Station Detroit, and Air Station Miami, which helped in qualifying Confidence crew members and the air crews for flight operations at sea.
The cutter Confidence is a 210-foot Reliance class cutter with a crew complement of 12 officers and 68 enlisted members.
