Cruiseship Passenger Medevaced by Station San Diego

SAN DIEGO – A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station San Diego transported a passenger from the cruise ship Paradise at 10:00 a.m. today.

At 8:35 this morning, the Coast Guard Sector San Diego command center received a report from the Paradise about a 61-year-old male suffering from cardiac symptoms. A Coast Guard flight surgeon determined the man’s condition would require a medical evacuation.

The Station San Diego rescue crew rendezvoused with the vessel at the San Diego sea buoy. The patient and his wife were transferred to the Coast Guard rescue vessel. The crew transported them to the San Diego Harbor Police docks at Shelter Island where they were met by EMS personnel.

The man was taken to the UCSD Medical Center in good condition.
