Court-martialed Coast Guardsman sentenced to 8 months confinement, bad conduct discharge

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A Coast Guardsman pled guilty Tuesday of drug charges and was sentenced that evening during a special court-martial in Miami.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Heather D. Hardy was sentenced to eight months confinement in a military brig, a bad conduct discharge, forfeiture of $1,010 pay per month for a total of eight months, and a reduction to paygrade E-1, the military’s lowest enlisted grade.

Hardy was convicted of three specifications of Article 112 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice for the use of marijuana and cocaine while serving on active duty and for the illegal distribution of marijuana.

Hardy was formerly stationed at Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team Miami and is currently serving her sentence in a military brig in Miami.

Vice Adm. Robert Parker, commander of the Coast Guard Atlantic Area, was the convening authority for the court martial.
