WARRENTON, Ore. — Coast Guard Sector Columbia River’s communication network is currently down following a storm along the Oregon Coast.
Watchstanders at the Sector Columbia River Command Center announced Thursday morning that communications are down at the center and they are currently working with other government agencies to assist with communication capabilities until systems are back online.
“We are very thankful to our government partners for assisting us while our communication systems are down,” said Chief Petty Officer Matthew Degerolamo, command duty officer, Sector Columbia River. “We are continuing to work on different solutions to bring our communications back online as soon as possible.”
Other agencies providing assistance during this outage are city and county dispatch centers, the Columbia River Bar Pilots and the Merchant Exchange.
The outage is expected to last several hours, but mariners can reach watchstanders by VHF radio or calling individual Coast Guard stations. An emergency search and rescue line has been established and can be contacted at 503-861-2242.
