SEATTLE – A Columbia County River Patrol boat crew recovered the body of a man who was reported missing early today from Gilbert River near Portland.
The reporting source contacted Coast Guard Sector Portland around 1:30 a.m. stating that they saw a possible unmanned sailing vessel adrift in the Multnomah Channel.
A response boat crew from Station Portland was launched and discovered the sailing vessel adrift in the Gilbert River with no persons onboard. Sector Portland contacted the Multnomah County and Columbia County River Patrol crews to assist in the search.
The missing man was later discovered 100-yards from his sailing vessel by a Columbia County River Patrol boat crew.
