Coast Guardsman Posthumously Promoted to Chief

MOBILE, Ala. – Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Clint Jaye, 46, was posthumously promoted to Chief Petty Officer Monday during a funeral service in Monroeville, Ala.

With 28 years of military service, Jaye was honored during the ceremony for his dedicated years of service to the Coast Guard.

During his career as a Coast Guard machinery technician, Jaye served at Port Security Unit 308 and the Coast Guard Cutters Cimmaron, Sweetgum, Cypress, Eagle, Saginaw and Wedge.

With more than 100 Coast Guard members in attendance from various units, the funeral included full military honors in addition to a fly-over by a HH-60J Jayhawk helicopter.

Jaye’s family and community noted their appreciation for the support they received after his death.

Jaye died of cancer Wednesday, and at the time of his death, was assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Wedge.
