Coast Guard units assist vessel 10 miles west of Depoe Bay, Ore.

ASTORIA, Ore. — The Coast Guard assisted a fishing vessel taking on water approximately 10 miles west of Depoe Bay, Ore., Saturday.

Station Yaquina Bay, Ore., received a call at approximately 6:50 p.m. from the 40-foot fishing vessel Western Skies stating they were taking on water.

Group North Bend, Ore., launched an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Facility Newport, Ore., and Station Depoe Bay launched two 47-foot motor life boat crews.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene and lowered a rescue swimmer with a pump. The two motor life boat crews arrived on scene and each passed a pump onto the vessel.

The three pumps were set up and the vessel was successfully dewatered.

The Coast Guard is escorting the vessel to Yaquina Bay.

No injuries have been reported.
