GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (D9 Public Affairs) – Coast Guard Station Grand Haven medically evacuated a 20-year-old crewman from a towing vessel 10 miles west of the Grand Haven pier today at approximately 8:30 a.m.
“It was pretty straightforward; he had lower back, kidney pain,” said Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Steven Donn.
Donn and his 47-foot motor lifeboat (MLB) crew transferred the crewman from the 136-foot Ostrander to awaiting Emergency Medical Services at the station.
The crewman was conscious and taken to North Ottawa County Hospital.
