Coast Guard to welcome Cutter Chock to upper Chesapeake Bay

Mid Atlantic Coast Guard NewsBALTIMORE — The Coast Guard is scheduled to officially welcome a 65-foot Small Harbor Tug and crew during a ceremony here Wednesday.

The Coast Guard Cutter Chock and its eight-person crew are changing their homeport from Portsmouth, Va., to Baltimore.

“The relocation of the cutter Chock to Coast Guard Sector Baltimore will greatly enhance the Coast Guard’s multi-mission response capabilities including significantly improved ice-breaking capacity for the upper Chesapeake Bay and Port of Baltimore,” said Capt. Mark O’Malley, the commander of Coast Guard Sector Baltimore. ”It’s truly a privilege to have the cutter as part of Sector Baltimore, a cutter with such a long history of superior service to the mariners of the Chesapeake Bay.”
