Coast Guard to search through night for overdue boater

BOSTON – A Coast Guard cutter crew intends to search throughout tonight for the overdue Connecticut boater Jim Floroski.

The Coast Guard Cutter Ridley from Monauk, New York, is scheduled to remain on scene in an effort to locate Floroski. In addition, a boat crew from Station Block Island is still on scene, but is not anticipated to remain overnight.

A boat crew from Coast Guard Station Point Judith, Falcon jet and Jayhawk helicopter crews from Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., a Coast Guard Auxiliary airplane and the Civil Air Patrol have assisted in the search throughout today.

Floroski’s truck and trailer are still parked at the boat ramp in Point Judith, R.I.

Floroski was reported overdue by a friend this morning after failing to arrive at the Great Island boat ramp in Point Judith in his dark green and white 23-foot pleasure boat Sargent Slaughter.
