Coast Guard to recognize local partners at Southeast Outdoor Safety Expo

JUNEAU, Alaska – Capt. Melissa Bert, Coast Guard Sector Juneau Commander, is scheduled to recognize eight local organizations for their continued service and partnership in search and rescue at Centennial Hall Sunday at 1 p.m. during the Southeast Outdoor Safety Expo.

The organizations being honored are Juneau Mountain Rescue, Marine Exchange of Alaska, Southeast Alaska Dogs Organized for Ground Search, Alaska State Troopers, Civil Air Patrol, Juneau Police Department, Capital City Fire Rescue and the Alaska Marine Highway System.

“Local partnerships are critical to the success of search and rescue missions,” said Capt. Melissa Bert. “The Coast Guard appreciates and values the professionalism and expertise of organizations willing to assist those in need.”

Bert continued to say that our partnerships with these local entities is vital to our continued ability to save lives in Southeast Alaska.

The Southeast Outdoor Safety Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Centennial Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
