PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The Coast Guard will set and maintain a security zone in the vicinity of Wallops Island, Va., for a NASA rocket launch scheduled for Friday morning.
Coast Guard Station Chincoteague, Va., will provide three boat crews to be located at the outbound portion of inlet buoys and at locations approximately 10-miles offshore. The crews will intercept and/or notify any vessels within near-shore fouling location of operations.
All ships and boats in the area are instructed to be in communications with Wallops Plot MB Channel 12 or 19.
Mission updates and completion will be noted on the Wallops launch status line at 757-824-2050. If weather prohibits Friday’s launch, alternative launch dates are scheduled from Saturday through Monday.
