Coast Guard Sector Long Angeles-Long Beach will open it’s new $2.8 million, 6.000 sq. ft. command center on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Coast Guard Base in San Pedro. Taking part in the ceremony will be Rear Admiral Craig Bone, the 11th District Commander, Sector Commander Captain Paul Wiedenhoeft and Congresswoman Jane Harman.
The command center will operate 24 hours a day keeping watch over 320 miles of coastline from San Luis Obispo County to Orange County. The centers area of responsibility includes the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
