Coast Guard to hold Special Local Regulation on Waccamaw River

BUCKSPORT, S.C. – The Coast Guard is to hold a Special Local Regulation (SLR) on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway on Saturday and Sunday from approximately 11:30 a.m., until 7:00 p.m., each day during the Outboard Drag Boat Association “Draggin’ on the Waccamaw” boat race.

The SLR will encompass all waterways of the Waccamaw River from mile marker 377 to 378.

The SLR is enforced to protect those in the waterway from the hazards of the high speed races.

Vessels are swimmers are prohibited from entering, transiting, anchoring or reaming within the regulated area unless authorized by the Captain of the Port of Charleston, S.C., or a designated representative.

All concerned traffic can contact the Coast Guard on the day of the event via VHF-FM Channel 16.
