Coast Guard to enforce safety zone during Apache Pier Labor Day fireworks display

Southeastern Coast Guard NewsMYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Coast Guard Sector Charleston is to establish a temporary safety zone on the Atlantic Ocean in Myrtle Beach, Saturday.

The safety zone will be held during the Apache Pier Labor Day fireworks display and will encompass all waters within a 1,000-foot radius around Apache Pier.

The safety zone will be enforced from approximately 9 p.m., till 10:15 p.m., Saturday.

If this event is postponed due to inclement weather, the safety zone will be enforced from approximately 9 p.m., until 10:15 p.m., Sunday.

The safety zone is necessary to protect spectators and the general public from the hazards associated with fireworks over the navigable waters .

All persons and vessels are prohibited from entering, transiting through, anchoring in, or remaining within the regulated area unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Charleston or a designated representative.
