Coast Guard to hold industry day in Kodiak

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Coast Guard Sector Anchorage will hold an industry day conference Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kodiak Fisherman’s Hall.

“I want to make us available to address questions and concerns from the industry in an open forum where others with the same questions can hear and benefit from the answers provided,” said Capt. Mark Hamilton, commander Coast Guard Sector Anchorage.

Personnel from Sector Anchorage and Marine Safety Detachment Kodiak will be available to give presentations and answer questions on topics of concern to the maritime industry. Presentation material will be focused on commercial waterfront facilities and commercial marine operator issues.

Specific areas of interest are:

— Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

— Facility Security

— Area Maritime Security Committees


9:00 a.m. – 9:05 a.m.: Welcome – Lt. Jason Boyle, supervisor Marine Safety Detachment Kodiak
9:05 a.m. – 9:10 a.m.: Opening Remarks – Capt. Mark Hamilton – Captain of the Port Western Alaska
9:10 a.m. – 10 a.m.: TWIC Presentation
10:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.: Coffee Break
10:15 a.m. -11 a.m.: Area Maritime Security Committee Presentation
11 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.: Top 10 common issues during facility safety and facility security inspections
11:10 a.m. – 12:15 a.m.: Lunch
12:15 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Question and Answer with the Captain of the Port
