Coast Guard to establish safety zones for Charleston fireworks display

Southeastern Coast Guard NewsCHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard will establish several safety zones during the Independence Day firework presentation on Wednesday.

Safety zones will be established on the Charleston Harbor, Cooper River, Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Calibogue Sound, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Safety zones will be enforced from approximately 8:30 p.m., till 10:30 p.m., Wednesday.

These temporary safety zones are intended to restrict vessels and swimmers from entering the areas where the fireworks display will be taking place.

These Safety Zones are necessary to protect spectators and the general public from the hazards associated with fireworks and boating traffic.
