Coast Guard to establish safety zone on Maumee River for Toledo Edison smokestack Demolition

TOLEDO, Ohio — The Coast Guard will establish a safety zone on the Maumee River from 10:30 a.m., to 4 p.m., Wednesday for the demolition of Toledo Edison’s smokestacks.

An alternate date has been set for the same time frame on Thursday.

The safety zone will encompass all waters of the Maumee River starting at the Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge, mile marker 4.30, to the Craig Street Bridge, mile marker 3.30.

All recreational and commercial boating traffic is directed to remain clear of the safety zone. Vessels will not be allowed to enter, transit through or anchor within the safety zone without permission from the Captain of the Port, Coast Guard Sector Detroit or his on-scene representative. The Captain of the Port, Sector Detroit or his on-scene representative may be contacted via VHF Channel 16.
