Coast Guard to enforce Special Local Regulation for Patriot Challenge on the Ashley River

7th Coast Guard District NewsCHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coast Guard is to establish a Special Local Regulation (SLR) for the Patriot Challenge Kayak Race on the Ashley River in Charleston, S.C., on Saturday.

The SLR is put into place to protect those participating in the race.

The SLR will cover 75-yards in front of the lead safety vessel, 75-yards behind the last vessel and all areas within 100-yards of the other participating vessels, including kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards during the race.

The regulated areas will be enforced from approximately 12:30 p.m., until 3:30 p.m., Saturday.

All personnel and vessels are prohibited from entering the regulated area unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Charleston or a designated representative.
