Coast Guard to enforce safety zone for crane delivery to LA harbor cargo terminal

LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard and Los Angeles Port Police will be enforcing a safety zone around the cargo ship Dock Express 10 beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007. The safety zone will be in effect during its transit from anchorage in Long Beach harbor until it reaches its berth at Port of Los Angeles berth 136. The zone will extend 200-yards forward of the ship and 100-yards around. Vessels may not enter this safety zone without the permission of the Coast Guard Captain of the Port.

The Dock Express 10 is carrying two gantry cranes from Japan. The ship and cranes will pass under the Vincent Thomas Bridge, during this time the bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic.
