Coast Guard to discontinue aids to navigation in Nassawadox Creek, Va.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Due to the continued shoaling of Nassawadox Creek the Coast Guard will discontinue the aids marking the waterway on March 16.

Since 1999, the Coast Guard has attempted to mark this continually shoaling federal navigation project. The water depth in the waterway has been less than 2 ft. since 2003 and Coast Guard can no longer access and safely mark the waterway.
