Coast Guard to conduct tsunami drill

SEATTLE – Crews from Coast Guard Group/Air Station North Bend, Ore., will be conducting a tsunami response drill Wednesday in Coos Bay, Ore.

The exercise allows crews to practice evacuating the station in the event of tsunami. A crew will relocate an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter to a baseball field at Southwest Oregon Community College, located at 1988 Newmark Avenue, in Coos Bay.

The station’s search and rescue capabilities will not be affected by the exercise.

Local citizens should not be alarmed by increased Coast Guard activity.
