Coast Guard to conduct storm warning flights

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The Coast Guard is continuing to prepare for Tropical Storm Hanna, a weather system that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is currently tracking off the coast of the Bahamas, today.

A Coast Guard C-130 crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., is scheduled to conduct a storm overflight to alert mariners off the coasts of North Carolina and Virginia that a Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to be making it’s way up the east coast.
