Boat crews from Coast Guard Station Tybee Island and the Coast Guard Auxiliary will work alongside Moran Environmental personnel to deploy oil containment boom to practice shoreline protection strategies and mitigation techniques in accordance with the area’s contingency plan.
The oil containment boom deployment is part of an annual training program designed to better prepare Coast Guard personnel in advance of a real oil-spill event. The exercise is scheduled to last approximately four hours.
Waterway users are asked to report all spills, sheens, and hazardous material releases into our waterways to the National Response Center at 1-800-424-8802.
