SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard and local first responders are scheduled to conduct Port Protector exercises in Los Angeles and Long Beach Monday.
These exercises are scheduled to include the detection and ignition of mock explosive devices. Participants in the exercises will simulate injuries to heighten the mock response.
From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Port Police, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Long Beach Police Department and Customs and Border Protection are scheduled to participate in the exercises in the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach.
The training provides first responders a simulated experience of what to expect and how to react during real-world incidents.
