Coast Guard to conduct annual port security exercise in Juneau

JUNEAU, Alaska – Representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard and Southeast Alaska Marine Industry stakeholders are scheduled to conduct an exercise on Thursday at Centennial Hall in Juneau.

This annual exercise provides an opportunity for all involved to test communications of safety and security threat information with waterways users in emergency and non-emergency settings.

Over 20 response organizations and regional stakeholders have been invited to participate. These include the Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Protection, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cruise Line Agencies of Alaska, City and Borough of Juneau, and others.

The overall objective of the exercise is to further develop coordination and raise situational awareness between stakeholders and responders in the event of an actual threat.
