JUNEAU, Alaska — A public Formal Marine Investigation, convened by the Seventeenth Coast Guard District commander, to look into the sinking of the fishing vessel Alaska Juris, has been set for Monday, December 5, in Seattle.
The hearing will take place at the Henry Jackson Federal Building located at 915 2nd Avenue, beginning Monday at 12:30 p.m. and is expected to proceed until Friday, December 16.
The intent of the Formal Investigation is to interview witnesses and gather information in a public setting about the cause of the sinking of the fishing/processor vessel Alaska Juris, which sank in approximately 5,400 feet of water and was operating approximately 690 miles west of Dutch Harbor, Alaska on July 26, 2016.
