Coast Guard terminates fishermen’s voyage for safety violations

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Coast Guard terminated the voyage of a 38-foot fishing boat for multiple safety violations today five miles east off the coast of Sea Isle City, N.J.

A Coast Guard crew from Station Atlantic City boarded the Wild Turkey during a routine inspection at about 12:40 p.m.

The fishing trip was terminated due to there being no life-raft or an emergency position indicating radio beacon aboard (EPIRB).

The Coast Guard encourages all recreational and commercial boaters to be safe on the water and follow all federal and state boating laws. The Coast Guard provides free voluntary dockside exams to help ensure compliance with federal safety regulations. These exams help prevent vessel voyages from being terminated.
