Coast Guard suspends search regarding windsurfing kite near Bar Harbor, Maine

BAR HARBOR, Maine — The U.S. Coast Guard suspended search efforts after crews scoured waters where a windsurfing kite was found near Lamoine Beach, March 18, 2011.

U.S. Coast Guard Station Southwest Harbor received a public call reporting a windsurfing kite that was spotted adrift near Lamoine Beach at approximately 12 p.m.

A Coast Guard 47-foot motor life boat crew from Station Southwest Harbor launched to investigate and found the windsurfing kite adrift in the channel. A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew also aided in the search.

Coast Guard and Maine Marine Patrol crews searched the waters for four hours without results. The Coast Guard then decided to suspend further search efforts.
