Coast Guard suspends search for two remaining crewmembers from helicopter crash

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard has suspended its search, Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, for the two remaining crewmembers from a helicopter crash that occurred 2-miles off the coast of Sabine Pass, Thursday morning.

The Coast Guard searched approximately 1,000 square miles during the search and rescue effort. The following Coast Guard units were used during the search:

  • MH-65 rescue helicopter crews from Air Station Houston Texas
  • Falcon jet crew from Air Station Corpus Christi Texas
  • Small rescue boat crews from Station Sabine, Tx
  • Cutter Heron from Sabine, Texas
  • Cutter Skipjack from Galveston, Texas
