SEATTLE — The Coast Guard suspended its search for two boaters reported missing near Port Angeles, Wash., Sunday.
The Coast Guard ended its search efforts at 12:10 p.m., after searching approximately 700 square miles for approximately 46 hours.
Coast Guard Group Port Angeles received a call at 11 p.m., Friday, from the wife of Brook Bennett stating that her husband and his friend Rob Larsen had left for a fishing trip at 5 p.m., and had not returned.
The Coast Guard launched a rescue helicopter from Air Station Port Angeles, a small response boat from Station Port Angeles and the cutters Adelie and Wahoo, both homeported in Port Angeles. The Coast Guard Cutter Midgett, homeported in Seattle, was in the area and kept a lookout for the missing boaters.
The Canadian Coast Guard also launched two cutters to assist in the search.
Bennett and Larsen are reported to be fishing in a 14-foot blue and green skiff with a windshield.
