Coast Guard suspends search for possible person in water

Seattle — The Coast Guard suspended the search for a possible person in the water in the vicinity of Boundary Pass, Wash., late Friday.

Coast Guard Station Bellingham, Wash., received a report of a drifting unmanned dinghy shortly after 1 p.m.

An HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., and the Coast Guard Cutter Terrapin, an 87-foot patrol boat from Bellingham, were launched to conduct a search of the area.

The 14-foot craft contained what appeared to be a suicide note, identification and clothing.

Coast Guard vessels searched the area until there was no chance of survival based on the water and weather conditions.
