MIAMI – Coast Guard rescue crews at Sector Miami suspended their active search Thursday evening pending further developments for a possible distressed snorkeler 150 yards off the coast of Vero Beach, Fla.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami were notified at approximately 10:30 a.m. Thursday that a Coast Guard Auxiliarist noticed a snorkeler go missing in the waters off Vero Beach.
A Coast Guard Station Fort Pierce, Fla., response boatcrew and a Coast Guard Air Station Miami aircrew were dispatched. A boatcrew from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and a boatcrew and aircrew from the Indian River Fire Rescue also assisted in the search.
With no new leads or correlating information the Coast Guard has suspended the active search for a possibly distressed snorkeler and may resume the search if new information is received.
