CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a person in the water near Port Aransas, Texas.
The search began Sunday morning when Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received a report of a missing fisherman who was last seen aboard his fishing vessel at 4 a.m.
Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and diverted a Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry air crew, a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew and a Coast Guard Station Port Aransas 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew to search for the missing fisherman.
Coast Guard crews searched 3,509 square-nautical miles over the span of approximately 64 hours.
Involved in the search were:
- An HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft crew from Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi
- Several MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crews from Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi
- A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Port Aransas
- The Coast Guard Cutter Alligator
- The Coast Guard Cutter Tiger Shark
The Coast Guard’s search will remain suspended pending the development of new information.
