Coast Guard suspends search for person in water near Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — The Coast Guard suspended its search, pending any new developments, for a possible person in the water near the Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville, Florida, Wednesday.

Crews aboard a 25-foot Response Boat-Small from Coast Guard Station Mayport and a rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, Georgia, were on scene.

Police divers located one body near the Buckman Bridge.

It is unknown why the car went into the water.

Also involved in the search were the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Highway Patrol, the Navy and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.
