Coast Guard suspends search for person in the water

65 New OrleansNEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and local agencies have suspended the search for a person in the water near Navarre Beach, Florida, Thursday after Florida Fish and Wildlife received a report that the man was discovered to be safe in his home.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday that Mitchel Overcash, a 31-year-old man fell off a boat in Navarre Sound east of the Navarre Bridge.

Involved in the search were:

–     Coast Guard Station Pensacola 45-foot Response Boat- Medium crew

–     Coast Guard Station Destin 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew

–     Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew

–     Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

–     Local fire departments
