Coast Guard suspends search for missing swimmer

SAN DIEGO – The U.S. Coast Guard suspended search efforts for an overdue swimmer near La Jolla, Calif., at 2 p.m., Sunday.

Jim Repetto, a 53-year-old Massachusetts man, was reported missing to San Diego Lifeguards at approximately 6 p.m., Saturday, prompting a search involving Coast Guard, San Diego Lifeguards and Fire-Rescue Department air and boat crews.

Crews actively searched for approximately 19 hours, covering an area of approximately 80 miles.

Active searching was suspended at 2 p.m., pending any new developments.
