Coast Guard suspends search for missing swimmer

OREGON INLET, N.C. – The Coast Guard has suspended the search for Brian Mouring Wednesday.

Coast Guard crews searched for the swimmer for more than nine hours.

Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received a call from Dare County 911 dispatch at 10 a.m., reporting the missing swimmer.

An HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, along with a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew and 25-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet responded to the incident.

Crews from Nags Head Fire and Rescue Department, Nags Head Ocean Rescue, North Carolina Park Rangers and North Carolina Fish and Game were also on scene assisting in the search.
