Coast Guard suspends search for missing person near Dauphin Island

Houston 65 Case CloasedMOBILE, Ala.  – The Coast Guard has suspended their search for the person missing near Dauphin Island, Thursday.

Coast Guard crews covered more than 480 square miles during the search after receiving a report that 30-year-old Daniel Sewell had gone missing from Fort Gaines where he had planned to go swimming. Rescue crews continuously searched for more than 22 hours.

Coast Guard Sector Mobile suspended their search at 9:36 p.m.

Participating in the search were small boat crews from Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, Alabama Marine Police, and Dauphin Island Police.
