Coast Guard suspends search for missing paddle boarder

Coast Guard District 11 NewsALAMEDA, Calif. – The Coast Guard suspended its active search for the missing paddle boarder who was last seen in the vicinity of Pillar Point Harbor on Sunday.

Search crews from Coast Guard Station Golden Gate and Air Station San Francisco looked for Rodrigo Ruiz for more than 25.5 hours in an area covering more than 198 square nautical miles.

The search area was thoroughly covered by Coast Guard air and boat crews, and beach and shoreline searches were conducted by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department. Despite their efforts, search and rescue teams could not find Ruiz, and the decision was made to suspend the search.
