Coast Guard suspends search for missing man off Newport News, Va.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Coast Guard suspended the search for a missing man in the waters off the Newport News Marine Terminal at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Still missing is Angelo Burnett, a 42-year-old male from Newport News.

Helicopter rescue crews from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. along with rescues crews from Station Portsmouth, Station Little Creek, Virginia Marine Resources Commission, NNPD and Newport News Fire Department participated in the search for the missing man.

Coast Guard crews conducted a 15-hour search covering over 70 square miles after watchstanders at Sector Hampton Roads received a report at approximately 4 a.m. from 911 operators of a person in the water.
