Coast Guard suspends search for missing man

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The U.S. Coast Guard and local response agencies suspended the search for a missing swimmer near here at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday.

A Coast Guard Station Marquette 30-foot response boat, an Air Station Traverse City, Mich., HH-65C Dolphin helicopter and Air Facility Muskegon, Mich., HH-65C Dolphin helicopter completed numerous visual and radar searches and have suspended the search for the 28-year-old male.

The Marquette County Sheriffs and Marquette Police Department utilized seven divers and side scan sonar in an attempt to locate the individual.

The Coast Guard recommends to both boaters and swimmers on the lakes to always wear a life jacket, and tell a family member or friend where they are going and when they will return.
